The Third Annual
Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day
Winter Sports and Fun at the Pottle Tree Farm
in Remembrance of Jim Pottle

Saturday, February 19th we held our Third Annual "Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day "Winter Sports & Fun" at the Pottle Tree Farm in Perry Maine to increase awareness of Congenital Heart Defects and raise funds for families affected by Congenital Heart Defects.  We had our best turn-out ever, with over 100 registrants!

We deeply missed Jim Pottle, who has generously hosted our event each year. We will remember him and Seamus each year in the future at "Winter Sport and Fun".  We are so grateful to Jim's remarkable wife, Sandra Pottle and her family and friends who made the day possible just weeks after losing Jim.  They trimmed trees, groomed trails, and uncovered the labyrinth which was buried in ice. This year we were blessed to bring Roy, Seamus' baby brother to his first "Winter Sport and Fun".  Seamus' grandparents, Joan and Mike Duffy also came to the event for the first time...at this point we need childcare!!

Conditions were wonderful for Sledding and skating this year.  Brave souls also went snowshoeing and cross country skiing through the beautiful trails.  The labyrinth provided a special place to remember Jim and those affected by congenital heart defects.

Proceeds (over $2500) will be donated to the Devon Nicole House in Boston.  The Devon Nicole House provides a place for families to stay who are caring for children at Boston Children's Hospital.  Stronghearts' donation will go towards travel and food for these families.

Here are some pictures from the day:
