Makenzie Gets a Heart Heroes Cape

Stronghearts donates to “Heart Heroes” .   The mission of Heart Heroes is to create and distribute superhero heart capes to children with congenital heart defects.  Makenzie is 2-years-old and will need another heart surgery to replace a pulmonary valve.  Soon after birth nurses noticed that she was blue around the mouth.  She was sent to Boston Children’s Hospital where she later underwent surgery to treat Tetrology of Fellot (TOF).  Soon after Makenzie’s birth, her father also required life-saving surgery for a TOF .   In a family where everyone is really a heroe, Makenzie’s mother describes the arrival of the cape as symbol of how much fight is inside such a tiny little person.  She states that as she grows up and faces the harder times that are inevitable, the cape can serve as a reminder of just how strong she really is.
